Carex amphiola, also known as Eastern narrow-leaved sedge, is a native of much of the United States Southeast and Southern prairie states, including Arkansas. Commonly found in the acidic loamy soil of low, flat areas, or on slopes rising from streams.
Eastern narrow-leaved sedge blooms in mid-May and throughout this period will form vigorous clumps. Carex amphiola tends to reseed on its own and will attract native pollinators, including several butterfly species.
