Danthonia spicata (Poverty Oat Grass)
Danthonia spicata, also known as Poverty Oat Grass, is a cool season grass that prefers light, well-drained soil in full or partial sun. It forms low tuffs with basal leaves that tend to curve to either the right or the left. Poverty Oat Grass is useful for a ground cover or erosion control, as it it has small rhizomes and deep roots to hold soil in place and spread out easily.
Thin flowering culms develop and rise above the tuffs. The older leaves tend to brown and the curl inward which is what gives it its other common name, Curly Grass.
Perennial
Height: 12 inches
