Chasmanthium latifolium, also known as River Oats, this is a native perennial grass that is valued for its attractive, drooping seed heads and low maintenance. River oats do best in partial to full shade. They can tolerate some morning sun but prefer afternoon shade, especially in warmer climates. They thrive in moist sand, loam and clay soils. Keep the soil consistently moist, especially during the first growing season. Once established, it can tolerate short periods of drought.
